Solving your problems …

My posts are about how to help people, how to help organizations improve and develop, and the importance of building people and communities.

Today’s post takes that to an entirely different level. Normally I share experiences, knowledge, and attitudes learned in my career to help people learn from my good experiences, avoid my mistakes, and sometimes smile at my stories.  Today is different. Today I am looking for an organization that I can help lift to the next level and beyond.  I want to use my skills to solve your problems.

I am looking for an opportunity to make a difference.  I am ready to help right now, to learn what your organization does well, to listen to your vision and goals, and to apply my skills, experience, and attitudes to help you, your people, and your community exceed your expectations.

I believe in people. I believe in leadership, collaboration, and facilitation.  I believe that I can offer solutions to your problems through …

Transferable Skills. I have been a project manager, certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP); a Food Security Coordinator and advocate, working with 50+ organizations and more than 300 volunteers to help address food insecurity in rural Ontario; and a top executive and manager of one of the most successful home furnishing stores in Canada.  The skills, lessons, and experiences I have acquired are all transferrable.

Initiative. I make things happen. One of my core strengths is the ability to work through all of the stages of a concept keeping the vision of the organization always in line with the desired outcomes.

Adaptability. I bring the ability to tailor my skills to complement existing skill sets to become a skill multiplier.  I can be part of a team or provide leadership depending on the situation or environment.  I can work and interact with people of every age, demographic, and effectively to develop and achieve organizational goals.

Reliable and resilient. I bring an incredible work ethic, poise, and composure to the workplace with an excellent track record of being able to work in fast-paced environments and effectively make decisions that benefit customers and/or clients effectively and efficiently consistently.

Proven leadership and facilitation skills. Although the nature of this post requires the use of the word “I” many times, the skills I use are all about developing and building the people and the organization.  Credit always goes to the time, and leaders should always set an example through gratitude, humility, and appreciation.

Innovative, creative, and efficient problem-solving skills. I work collaboratively to find unique solutions with strong reframing skills and the ability to break complex issues into manageable pieces.

An appreciation and ability to make problematic decisions. As an experienced leader, I appreciate those situations that require difficult decisions.  My ability to handle those opportunities with dignity, respect, and fairness promptly is another of the core abilities that I offer to you.

Human Resources Skills. From creating organizational procedures, I bring proven ability in creating job descriptions and advertisements, screening and evaluating applications, hiring and documenting the entire HR processes, onboarding and training, reviews and evaluations, and completing exit interviews.

Award-winning Customer Service. Providing legendary customer service is one of my strongest attributes.  Whether dealing with customers directly or training others, I believe customer service is one of those fundament elements that organizational success is based on.

Above-average Training skills. Whether sales, office, customer service, logistics, and delivery, my ability to develop people has been one of the primary focuses of my success.

Engaging and Dynamic Public Speaker/Meeting Leader. Being engaging, interesting, and useful is the key to great presentations; whether to a classroom of high school students, a board room full of executives, or participating as part of a panel at a global conference.  I approach every opportunity, in-person or virtually, to gain everyone’s active participation and motivation to help drive organizations forward.

Project Management Skills. Small or large, I combine solid strategic and tactical skills with the ability to implement and execute projects whether using agile, traditional, or hybrid methodologies.

Systems and process expert. Having always thrived in sectors that are constantly changing and demanding better efficiencies; my skills in creating, redefining, and improving process improvement are to achieving success.

Creative, innovative, advertising, and marketing skills.   In a world full of marketing noise, I have helped plan, prepare, implement, and review events and campaigns to rise above the ordinary to communicate our competitive advantages to customers and the public.

Procurement, merchandising, and Inventory Control. As a successful buyer of appliances and electronics for two large retail stores; my toolkit includes all the prerequisite knowledge of inventory management, sales analysis, creative merchandising, and the importance of profitability and sales success.

Numbers, finance, and accounting. No matter the sector, every organization must provide an accurate accounting.  As a buyer, I understand, credits, freight, duties, and exchange rates.  As a merchant, I understand margins, sales, and profits.  In the charitable sector, I know grants and grant applications, the importance of donors, and accountability.

Applied skills and knowledge. My career began with a double major Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph in Business Administration and Economics.  I have successfully led organizations with more than seventy-five associates and sales of more than $17,000,000.  I was the manager of one of the top Home Furnishings Stores in Canada, earning five “Franchise of the Year,” awards.  I have certifications from Indigenous Canada, St John CPR/First Aid, CMHA Mental Health First Aid, and Joint Health and Safety Certification. Additionally, I am proficient with the Microsoft eco-system including word, excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Influence and gain willing cooperation. Tact and diplomacy are skills polished working with the United Way of Bruce Grey.  Working with 50+ food banks, meal programs, community gardens, grocery stores, governments, and more than 300 volunteers, I was able to help build bridges and tear down silos, all through working closely with people, listening to what they wanted and needed without any direct authority.

Learning and reinvention. We have all experienced adversity and made mistakes, and I work hard to help people maintain their desire to learn and make a difference.  I bring energy, encouragement, and the ability to make a change positive through building relationships and connectivity.

Community, volunteering, and people. I have made my share of mistakes. I have worked hard to apply “lessons learned,” and by listening to mentors and the people I have worked with I have come to incorporate the importance of building community and people into every aspect of the work I do.  Whether making a presentation to a global conference on food insecurity or helping an associate develop the skills to read, everything comes back to helping people.

I want to make a difference. My blog TOOLS EVERYONE CAN USE was createdto help small and medium-sized organizations, their people, and our communities.  Many people have helped me, asking nothing for their assistance other than a promise I return the favor when I could.  I try to fulfill that promise every day.

Looking for work is a challenging experience.

I don’t expect anyone to hire me because they “feel bad for my situation,” I intend to find an organization that believes what I have to offer can solve their problems and help them achieve their goals.

I have learned that it doesn’t matter how a person has gotten to be where they are, as much as it matters what they are doing to move forward.

I want to reach out to everyone I know and who knows me to offer my unique skillset, experiences, and intrinsic abilities to make a difference.

Thank you,

Paul.
